The Samsung N510 netbook first hit the Internet thanks to some leaked photos and specifications in June 2009. Soon the netbook blogs where full of rumours and interest in this machine thanks to its use if the nVidia ION platform.
The Samsung N510 netbook features a 11.6-inch, 1,366 x 768 resolution non-gloss screen which is perfect for watching 720p HD video. A perfect match for the ION platform even if this netbook does head away from the traditional 10" size. The N510 will ship with a 6-cell battery, which should give about 5 hours of run time. The ION platform is supposed to be energy efficient and not be an extra drain on battery life but this is something we will have to monitor.
The N510 was released in August 2009 in Europe, with a US release expected to follow shortly.
What Can the N510 Do?
The Samsung N510 offers a little more power than the average netbook available at the time of writing, this makes it great if you are looking to:
- Play more advanced games
- Run high definition video
However in order to set expectations early on, this machine still falls into the netbook class of product and therefore won't stand up to the power of a fully functional desktop. But as always, the N510 will make an excellent choice if you need an ultra portable PC that packs a little more punch!
